Dr. Jay Watts (She/They) is an Afrilachian, Queer Sexuality & Diversity Scholar as well as the Radical Executive Officer & Founder of The Center for Empowered Sexual Wellness, LLC. located in Los Angeles, California. She has a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education from the University of Louisville; Master of Art in Human Services from Eastern Kentucky University; Master of Education in Cultural Foundations of Education from Kent State University; and completed with a PhD in Human Services: Mental Health with a focus in Sexuality from Walden University. They have over a decade in Sexuality and Justice, Diversity, Equity & Belonging professional work.
With over 10 years of experience in sexuality education and professionally-tailored expertise in sex counseling in various settings, populations, and clinical needs, Jay brings extensive knowledge and background. In addition to being a Sex Counselor, Educator & Coach for her company, The Center for Empowered Sexual Wellness, LLC (The CESW), she also serves a sexologist and consultant for clinics, OB/GYN offices, urology offices, pelvic floor PT's, psychotherapists, and medical school programs Jay is a Board-Certified Sexologist through the American Board of Sexology, World Association of Sex Coaches, and the American College of Sexologists International. Furthermore, she is a Certified Sound Therapy & Sounding Healing practitioner, and a Reiki Master. She is finalizing supervision for AASECT Sex Counseling & Education certification.
Dr. Jay is a sex and cultural researcher with an esteemed peer-review publication history. Her academic journals and writing can be found in the Diverse: Issues in Higher Education; Encyclopedia of Social Justice & Diversity; Journal of Social Research; ScholarWorks; and three in progress publications in sexuality and intimacy. Dr. Jay is also the founder of a DEI firm called DiversiFirm Group LLC where she supports policy, practice, programming, and protocol for organizations, institutions, and agencies around the world. Jay's doctoral research focused on appropriated racial oppression as a moderator of sexual shame and sexual satisfaction of Black women in the United States.
